Martin Baumgartel studied mathematics at the Friedrich Schiller University. He has been involved in projects concerning mass-data retrieval problems during work at the German National Library Institute. After conducting research projects at Deutsche Telekom research labs, he was responsible for enterprise search projects for Deutsche Telekom and its customers. After relocating to the U.S., Martin helped Akamai Technologies launch their mobile product line and introduced it to a variety of clients.

Subsequently, he joined the online division of Walt Disney Parks & Resorts to manage the search experience on various web properties, including disneycruise.com, disneyworld.com, disneyland.com - among others.

He is a frequent speaker at industry events about search, knowledge management and mobile issues. In 2013 he joined Verizon Wireless to oversee site search with a focus on e-commerce and e-support.

After spending nearly a decade in leading international Sales teams for multi-million dollar companies like MetaPack, Oracle and MicroStrategy in the Benelux, Nordics and the UK - Ton truly knows what it takes to drive sales revenue as well as how to enlarge a company’s market position. In his current role at MetaPack he supports retailers and global brands to implement a truly Multichannel E-business strategy by offering international trade-lanes and an optimized user experience for consumers when buying online. He also presents at international trade fairs, E-Commerce events and has had several articles published in leading magazines in recent years. Ton holds a BSc in Applied Science. Ton ter Laak ist Vice President European Sales bei MetaPack.
